Helen joined ING New Zealand as Chief Executive Officer in July 2008, and is charged with leading ING New Zealand’s funds management, life insurance and real estate businesses through the next phase of growth. She has a broad and extensive experience in the financial services industry.
Previously, Helen was Executive Director of Life Risk at ING in Australia, where she achieved significant growth in revenue, profit and market share. She initially joined ING in 2001 as Head of Life Risk Products, where she led the product development, marketing and reinsurance teams. In 2004, she was promoted to Executive Director, joining the Life Company Board and leading all aspects of ING Australia’s life risk business. As a member of the executive board for ING Australia, she was also involved in the strategic direction of all aspects of the Australian business.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Economics majoring in actuarial studies from Macquarie University, together with a number of management and insurance qualifications.
She has also been an active committee member for the Australian Industry Association for Financial Services (IFSA), representing/lobbying on various industry issues to regulators, stakeholder and community groups.
Patrick Dwyer, Chief Financial Officer
Patrick Dwyer was appointed Chief Financial Officer of ING NZ in June 2009. He is responsible for ING NZ's three business divisions – Funds Management, Insurance and Real Estate – as well as the Corporate functions.
Patrick has been with the ING Group for 20 years and has extensive knowledge of worldwide insurance and funds management markets, with significant working experience in the Asia Pacific region. He was previously Chief Financial Officer with ING Korea, responsible for the strategic direction and leadership for the finance and risk management functions of ING Life Korea, the fourth largest insurance company in Korea.
Prior to that, Patrick was CFO for start-up KB Life Insurance, a specialised bank assurance joint venture between ING and Kookmin Bank (the largest retail bank in Korea). He has also served as Chief Insurance Risk Officer for Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), and in Amsterdam at ING Group headquarters as a Senior Actuary in Corporate Insurance Risk Management, with responsibility for Asia Pacific.
Patrick has a Master of Economics from Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
Paul Butler, Managing Director Funds Management
An accountant by profession, Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the finance industry. Before joining ING in mid 1994, Paul held a variety of senior positions in both accounting and general management for a large corporate bank. He was ING's Chief Financial Officer from 1994 to 2008. As MD Funds Management, Paul is responsible for the continued growth and development of all aspects of ING's funds management business. Paul is also a member of ING's Senior Management team.
Jeremy Nicoll, Managing Director Insurance
Jeremy was appointed Managing Director Insurance in September 2009, responsible for ING’s Auckland-based life assurance business (ING Life) and the Wellington-based ING Insurance Services (INGIS). INGIS develops and manages the bancassurance products sold through joint venture partner ANZ National Bank’s branch network.
Jeremy has been with ING NZ since 1999. He was previously Managing Director –Real Estate, responsible for two New Zealand-based listed property trusts. Prior to that, he was CFO and Company Secretary for ING Real Estate. He has an extensive background in finance both within New Zealand and internationally, originally joining ING as a fund accountant following two years in London with Cazenove & Co, after starting his career in Auckland with Coopers & Lybrand.
Anthony Katavich, GM Strategy & Marketing
Anthony joined ING in 2001 and immediately became involved in a number of high-profile and strategic projects, including the review and implementation of the ANZ/ING joint venture. He has also spearheaded a number of initiatives that have shaped the ING business, such as the acquisition of Club Life (now ING Life), the extension of the joint venture after ANZ bought National Bank, and a number of acquisition analysis projects.
Anthony has spent most of his career in the financial services sector, initially as a money market broker. He later worked at BNZ to establish a private banking function and at Tower Insurance where he developed a management system for the company’s wrap platform.
Before joining ING, Anthony was a consultant to the sector for 10 years. His current role is General Manager Strategy and Marketing; Anthony is also part of the ING Executive Team.
Brooke Zondane, Head of HR - ING & ANZ Wealth
Brooke has broad experience in Human Resources, most recently with ANZ as Head of HR for UDC Finance and Esanda Fleetpartners (part of ANZ Group) for three years. Brooke has also held HR positions within FMCG, manufacturing and government organisations.
While with UDC and Esanda, Brooke and her team developed and implemented a broad range of HR programmes covering leadership and talent development, cultural change, incentive and remuneration, graduates, employment branding, health and safety, performance management and succession planning.
Brooke attended Auckland University completing a BCom in Marketing, Employment Relations and Management.
In late 2007, she took 18 months out of her career to travel to Mozambique to do volunteer work in an orphanage.
Peter Vasey, General Manager Information Technology
Peter is responsible for all aspects of IT within ING New Zealand, including application development and strategy, operations, service desk and infrastructure. Peter is also a member of ING's senior management team.
With an MA from Cambridge, England, Peter has worked exclusively in the financial services area. Initially, he held managerial roles with HSBC and the financial services arm of General Motors, GMAC, in the UK. He credits this time as being critical in developing key operational skills before moving into and specialising in information services 15 years ago.
Most recently, Peter was the Regional CIO for GMAC, Asia Pacific and the Regional CIO for Europe.
Ewen Cameron, Head of Risk and Compliance
Ewen Cameron is Head of Risk and Compliance and has been with ING since 2005. He is responsible for all aspects of Corporate Governance including operational risk, compliance, information risk and business contingency.
He is a qualified accountant and honours graduate in Accounts and Finance from the University of the West of England. He has 25 years' experience in financial services in Europe and in Asia Pacific across a variety of businesses, including funds management, investment/retail banking and insurance. Ewen is a member of ING's senior management team.
